A day trip to Rottnest

Yesterday was a day filled with adventure - sailing, walking, cycling, bird-watching etc.

My day started at 8.30 am and ended at 7.30pm when I laid my tired self on my bed and fell instantly asleep.

Rottnest island is this big island about 30 minutes only on a speed-boat journey off the coast of Western Australia. The most unique point about Rottnest is that there are no private/ hired cars ( about 3 work-men's small trucks), but only walkers and cyclists.

I treasure the unspoilt, pristine nature of the island - the crisp, clean air, the quiet surroundings, the crystal clear water, the few quokkas freely roaming around, the quietly patient and efficient workers at the cafe, bicycle shop, harbour etc.

I like to re-
visit this gem of a paradise on earth soon.

Bicycle

3 days ago, my wonderful husband bought me a second-hand bicycle from "Cash Converters" for only $70 (what a bargain) and he even cycled it home while I drove back. I am beginning to understand his goodness, leadership and thriftiness now.

Anyway, I am so thrilled to start cycling again after a hiatus of  35 years. How the years just fly by!! No, no - I am not rambling on or having 1 of my alzheheimer or dementia or psychosis attacks. I am just so glad to cycle again after that long a time. The last time I cycled purposefully was to school way back in 1978! Memories of those good, hard years just rush in and I revel in them. I hope to post a photo of the bicycle soon since it is still too dark now (4.03 am) to go to the side of the house and click a photo of it.

By the way, would any bicycle enthusiasts like to share their stories or at least build up a collection of bicycle stories?
